Sal Doria, Owner and Chef

Sal is your typical Brooklyn Italian.  To know him is to love him.  Sal was born in Napoli, Italy.  In 1958 at 7 years old he moved from Europe to America with his mother, his younger brother and sister.  Settling in Brooklyn NY he was the oldest of seven children.  Sal began working in a pizza place in Brooklyn at 12 years old.  That was the start of a blooming career in the restaurant industry.  In 1968 Sal returned to Europe with his father.  Over that summer he worked for his uncles business tending to row boats along the coast of Napoli.  Once back in NY he went back to work in the family pizzeria before deciding to make a move south.  In March of 1979 Sal along with his sister Lucia and her husband came to NC.  Together they opened up Cousin's Pizza in Cary, NC.   After selling Cousin's, Sal decided to make the transition to fine dining.  He's helped open up several restaurants that he later sold to family members before making his way to Good ole' Pinehurst.  In 2010 Sal opened up Fratello's Italian Restaurant in Pinehurst.  He brought his traditional Italian recipes and Brooklyn personality and took Pinehurst by storm.  Fratello's is a favorite to MANY residents of Moore County.  In 2016, during Hurricane Matthew Sal opened his second restaurant in downtown Pinehurst.  


When not in one of his two restaurants you can usually bet Sal is spending time with his big family.  He is the father of two daughters Melissa and Tara, as well as the grandfather of four.  Sal's big personality makes it almost impossible to find someone in this small town that doesn't know this big city Italian.
